New features - what would you like?

09/02/2012 by monaroau
Yes we are a young website and we are still in beta testing. We are constantly developing the site and would love to hear what new features you would like to see. After all this website is for you. For example you now have a notifications section in your profile from where you can choose which notifications are emailed to you. If you are a requester or a helper then this new section can be very helpful. For example if you would like to set a job and forget it then you can be emailed whenever there is a change. For example when you receive a quote you will be emailed. Or if your job has been set to complete then you will also be notified via email. Alternatively if you are on the site all the time and don't need the emails then you can simply turn this setting off by unchecking the checkbox. You will continue to receive messages in your private messages section however to let you know of any job changes just to make sure you don't miss a thing. There is also the option to be emailed whenever a new job has been posted. If you are a keen helper and want to know about new jobs as soon as they are posted then this is the setting for you. The new jobs setting will soon be incorporated into another new feature which will allow you to concentrate on only certain types of jobs to tailor this more to your needs. You can also choose whether or not you receive notifications about new private messages that are received on the site and you can also unsubscribe to new blogs and news updates.

Other planned changes also include the following:

A mobile version of the site for all our smart phone users.

Category selection on the job form to make searching for jobs much easier.

Job watch lists where you will be able to save a search and get instant updates.

A friend list, where you can easily keep track of your favourite requesters or helpers.

We also think that an advanced search feature would also be helpful.

All this will be developed in the near future and if you have anything else you would like to see then please let us know.

Neighbours helping neighbours

MicroJobs is all about connecting you with your neighbours, your neighbourhood, local community, town or city to get things done or to help out people with their odd jobs etc.

It is our goal to make your life easier and we can help you with that in two different ways. If you need help with small jobs because you are too busy etc. Also if you want some more pocket money by helping people with their small jobs then MicroJobs is for you.

Lets think big city problem with a small town solution. I have lived in both small towns and large cities too and it is easy to see the difference between the two. In a small town you only have short distances to travel and you probably know most of the people that live in the town because you have had plenty of time to interact with them. This, combined with the fact that small towns are more social places means that you can usually find help with your small jobs. A small town has to be able to take care of itself. In a large city on the other hand with high levels of rental accommodation and larger distances to travel means that you may not have the chance to meet your neighbours and you have less time to do it. You may then struggle to find a helping hand. People still very much love their local community though and are very proud but may just not have the chance to fully connect. Do you love your local community?

Now with MicroJobs.com.au you can overcome the problem of having no time and you will also have the opportunity to meet reliable neighbours who want to help. No time to run to the shops? Ask for help here. You can also get to know the people on MicroJobs through the feedback they have received from other users. Make a name for yourself by helping out in your community and make some money too. Leave feedback for someone who has helped you with your small job then you will make it easier for the next person to make their choice.

I can think of a particular time when I could have really used a helping hand. I wanted to change the vanity unit in my bathroom and thought I could to it myself. I went to buy a new unit and tried to fit it into the back of my hatchback Corolla. I only got 100 metres down the street from the shop and the vanity unit ceramic top was already smashed to pieces. MicroJobs would have been very handy then.

So what help do you need today?
